I originally had an S910 which i bought in april this year, however with the release of this new model in the UK a few weeks back, i called the shop i bought the S910 from and requested a Part-Ex for the S950 for £975.. Woke up yesterday morning, switched it on to do some recording and was greeted by this lovely message upon startup:

I tried the factory reset and unplugging the keyboard then restarting etc, but no luck!

oooh so many different detailed replies! lol
well i sent an inquiry to Yamaha Music UK Ltd and they replied and said that it could be a fault with the 'internal processing components' and that i should phone my dealer and request a new model. so i did, and i have a new S950 coming tomorrow hopefully. and the faulty one getting collected at the same time!
as regards to having the USB stick connected at all times.. it was the same USB stick i had stored files on from my S910, no other software apart from styles and registrations downloaded from this site were on the stick and it never failed to work on the S910, the only difference me being installing a free copy of an official VSE pack from yamahamusicsoft.com that stated was compatible with the S950. i never remove the USB from the keyboard unless it is switched off and used in my laptop for transferring files etc then it is connected back into the keyboard before turning on again.
HOWEVER, i was not aware of some 'firmware update' .. should i have installed this first? if so where would i download it from??
Anyways, im going to buy a fresh new USB stick for this keyboard and re-download the styles i want from here, and just format the other one and not use it for my keyboard. and also NOT install ANYTHING until i know Yamaha have fully gone over everything to do with this new release.. its obvious theres "teething problems" starting to crop up with this new keyboard
Tidak ada maksud menjelekkan KB Yamaha,
sengaja sy tulis ini, sebagai peringatan kepada teman2 utk lebih menggunakan KB selayaknya KB.

Belum berani Upgrade Psr 3000 ke S950 :-D

Selama ini, berdasarkan penelitian saya, inilah keyboard2 Yamaha yang kena kasus:
PSR-1000(kasus di error loading disket, pengalaman paman saya)
PSR-1500 ( ada masalah saat menggunakan flashdisk, terkadang error loading juga)
PSR-3000(kasus berupa LCD bergaris/buram, dan beberapa keluhan tentang program error)
PSR-S700(kasus berupa speaker yang gak bunyi sebelah, pengalaman di keyboard milik SMP saya 1.5 tahun lalu)
PSR-S900(kasus berupa kerusakan LCD yang cukup parah mulai dari bergaris hingga blank, keluhan OS firmware yg error)
PSR-S950(kasus di motherboard)

untuk saat ini,saya udah pakai 2 bulan,di lapangan.no problem,udah 2 kali instal pack 2 kali,trus aku hapus krn gak cocok musik timur tengah,no problem,untk suara jauh mas ama s910.trim

Nah ini sikap tidak fanatik yg sebenarnya, saya sendiri sangat kagum dalam beberapa hal yg ada d KB Yamaha meski saya hanya pengguna S550 sejak awal kemunculannya dan sampai saat ini gak ada gangguan berarti dan pling2 sekali waktu perlu d bongkar total utk membersihkan debu2 yg ada d dalam serta memberi contac cliner pada papan tuts. Tp kalo seandainya sy ada rezeki utk beli KB lagi, maka saya akan pilih BK5/Pa600. Krn saya yakin masing2 punya keunikan yg menjadi ciri khas masing2 shg hanya dengan memiliki ke tiganya kita akan merasakan keunggunal KB-KB tsb.

saya sudah pake hampir 4 bln nga ada masalah, yang masalah mungkin lagi sial.. atau salah pengoperasian, jangan karena salah pengoperasian langsung dibilang produk gagal kalau barang baru baca dulu buku petunjuknya jangan langsung main hajar. menurut saya semua kibord ada kekurangan, tapi carilah kibord yang sedikit kekurangan dan banyak kelebihannya

sampai saat ini udah 2 Unit Yamaha S950 yang saya beli ditoko, untuk 2 hotel tempat saya ngamen
Mumpung hotelnya mau Upgrade Keyboard di Coffeshopnya, jadi bisa sekalian Test Drive S950 tiap malam
, sampai saat ini masih aman terkendali sih (udah 1 bulan lebih)

Sama mas, fitur WAV file diloading di multipad itu juga unik. Nanti saya setelah beli S950/750, multipadnya akan saya isi sound effect dari game-game jadul.
