Hi guys!

I havent been on here in quite a long while, but I thought i should pop back to discuss this issue i'm having with my newly bought PSR S950! Cry

I originally had an S910 which i bought in april this year, however with the release of this new model in the UK a few weeks back, i called the shop i bought the S910 from and requested a Part-Ex for the S950 for £975.. Well after being witheld in a TNT van over the weekend, my eagerly awaited S950 was delivered monday morning. Unboxed it, switched it on, went online to www.yamahamusicsoft.com, selected product compatibilty for PSR-S950 and then i downloaded my free Voice & Expansion Pack for the S950 - "Best of Europe collection" and installed it onto the keyboard. absoultely loved playing it for several hours, and then went to bed. Woke up yesterday morning, switched it on to do some recording and was greeted by this lovely message upon startup:

Unexpected Error!
Turn the power off and on again.

I tried the factory reset and unplugging the keyboard then restarting etc, but no luck!

Why? What? How?


oooh so many different detailed replies! lol

well i sent an inquiry to Yamaha Music UK Ltd and they replied and said that it could be a fault with the 'internal processing components' and that i should phone my dealer and request a new model. so i did, and i have a new S950 coming tomorrow hopefully. and the faulty one getting collected at the same time!

as regards to having the USB stick connected at all times.. it was the same USB stick i had stored files on from my S910, no other software apart from styles and registrations downloaded from this site were on the stick and it never failed to work on the S910, the only difference me being installing a free copy of an official VSE pack from yamahamusicsoft.com that stated was compatible with the S950. i never remove the USB from the keyboard unless it is switched off and used in my laptop for transferring files etc then it is connected back into the keyboard before turning on again.

HOWEVER, i was not aware of some 'firmware update' .. should i have installed this first? if so where would i download it from??

Anyways, im going to buy a fresh new USB stick for this keyboard and re-download the styles i want from here, and just format the other one and not use it for my keyboard. and also NOT install ANYTHING until i know Yamaha have fully gone over everything to do with this new release.. its obvious theres "teething problems" starting to crop up with this new keyboard

sengaja sy tulis ini, sebagai peringatan kepada teman2 utk lebih menggunakan KB selayaknya KB.
